Ron Bich

Campaign Statement, Qualifications and Biography

My IT career began in 1990 within the IBM mainframe world, looking back I find it amazing to see how the world as evolved with an ever increasing presence of technology. After getting initiated into Oracle at my job in 1995, I was provided with incentive to become involved with RMOUG in various volunteer roles of which many of those roles have been on the Board of Directors. My early involvement put me in direct contact with two very talented individuals, Doug Faughnan and Stan Yellott. Their support for this organization went beyond their knowledge about Oracle and in that same spirit my support has contributed improvements beyond my Oracle knowledge. This has been my way of paying tribute to both of those individuals, by supporting RMOUG in improving membership benefits beyond my Oracle knowledge!

Brad Blake

It would be a great opportunity for me to continue to serve the RMOUG community, provide my input and some fresh perspectives for the Board. I would be happy to continue and enhance my role as the SIGS Director, or in any other position that is open, that I could be a good fit for.

Carolyn Fryc

Campaign Statement

I have a deep desire to help my customers improve their business processes, as well as streamline their operations, whether it's through software, staffing or solution design. I am the consummate customer advocate and work to ensure that they are getting their needs met, as well as being informed as to all potential solutions available to them. I am an independent, and am not tied to any solution or brand, as each customer is unique and should be treated as such. I pride myself on my commitment to my customers and my loyalty to them is unparalleled, as is my honesty and integrity that I bring to each business relationship I engage in. The diversity of my solutions background is also a key component of my success, as I have a vast experience in applications, web development, and infrastructure and managed services to draw from, so am able to quickly identify opportunities for solving IT related business issues, being much more agile in responding to these scenarios than the majority of folks out there.
If I am selected for this role, I will promise to work diligently on helping RMOUG design programs and training sessions that are in line with the local Denver IT Market, as well as ensure that the group members feedback is distributed and responded to in a timely and effective manner, and will work with the members to proactively provide content and forums for discussing current and emerging needs.

Tom Green

Campaign Statement

In 2009 I delivered a presentation for Training Days on Identity Management and this article was published in SQL Update. Now I believe I am ready to give in other ways by serving on the RMOUG board. I believe RMOUG is the best way to sharpen one's skills in Oracle. Training Days gives learners new ideas on how to improve Oracle in their work place. RMOUG allows participants to better their skills and learn about the latest upgrades and new applications that interact with Oracle. The best part of RMOUG is being able to interact with other Oracle professionals and hear their ideas on how to over-come the many Challenges Oracle Databases can present.

Qualifications and Biography

I have been an Oracle DBA with the Department of Defense for 7 years. Our system includes 6 clustered databases. Over the years some of my duties have been to create and run scripts against the database, to partition tables, upgrade indexes, and remove test data from tables. I know how to recover a database using the control file. I'm very familiar with the uses of RMAN. I continually inspect redo logs to keep from losing critical data. In this way I keep the database up and running at top performance. This allows my customers access to the information they need without maintenance delays and unscheduled downtime.

I have been a member of RMOUG for a decade or so. I remember 10 years ago when I attended my first Oracle Training Days I met Stan Yellott and his love for Oracle rubbed off on me. He did not care what I knew, he was just happy I was there and he wanted to share with me his wonderful Oracle world. I now feel that I have learned enough about Oracle to want to help continue Stan's work. For the last 7 years I have volunteered as room monitor at RMOUG Training Days. This was a good way to help people feel welcome to the Oracle fellowship. I am an objective thinker and a problem solver. I believe these skills will make a valuable contribution to RMOUG.

Peggy King

Campaign Statement

In February 2010 we had another successful RMOUG Training Days with top experts from around the world and the United States as speakers and others attending as part of the Oracle Ace program. With your support I will continue working to expand the training opportunities for our members and RMOUG's presence in the User Group Community. I will also continue working with the Board of Directors to improve our administration processes to ensure the continued growth of RMOUG.

Barbara Lewis

Campaign Statement

I have been with RMOUG for 10+ years. I worked as a web maintenance developer for several years and then as IS Director until this past year where I have served as Membership Director.

As the IS Director other volunteers and myself focused an effective strategic plan for maintaining membership services of our technical environment. During my time in this role some of my accomplished initiatives included: drafting an RFP (Request for Proposal) that moved our platform and services to a new provider; reviewing and selecting a provider; testing new provider site and offerings; working with the previous provider to better assure a seamless transition of web hosting, email services and hardware; continuous search for a placement of hardware (we own two servers); site management to include file management in Unix, Mailman, a number of GUI tools, and other site context updates; etc. A future initiative of the strategic plan is to begin working in HTML-DB to develop a members’ site: the workspace is already developed and the formatting of documentation is slated.

As Membership Director I have worked in a number of ways in an effort to increase our business community awareness of RMOUG with the intent of increasing membership. These efforts include: being an active member of the Denver and Aurora Chambers to include volunteering for various committees – leads groups, women in business, health care committee … all of which have an interest in furthering technical services within their organizations; working with other Board members and ISACA to broaden the scope of topics presented to membership; working with the SCIS department at Regis University to bring a variety of database labs to membership; now that we are 501(c)3 working events such as the event sponsored by UCD on Auraria’s campus to get the word out to students with the intent they might join our organization; etc. Continuing this level of networking will further explain the benefits of RMOUG to business managers, technical recruiters, tech students, and other MIS professions. In time, the goal is that this word-of-mouth should result in more meaningful membership growth.
